I believe that making music is one of the deepest expressions of the human experience. Working on a new tune, hearing other musicians perform, soaking up stories from old friends and passing strangers, immersed in a book, or moving through this wild and dangerous and beautiful world, I am constantly reminded that we are surrounded by songs. I am grateful for the chances I've had to share songs and the stage with musical colleagues, and the opportunities I've enjoyed over the years to perform in clubs, coffee houses, and festivals all over the country.

Now, connected to a rooted network full of family and community, I remind myself that making music is not just about making a living, but making a life. Music allows us to breathe meaning into the thin air of silence, to honor the richness of the human experience, and to create and strengthen the bonds of community. I hope you will find some meaning in these songs, and support, with your ears and your dollars, independent music.
